2 Corinthians 12:8 | Three Times

Sometimes the hardest part of asking again is remembering how sure you were the last time you asked.

Paul begged the Lord three times that the thorn might depart from him. His account gives repeated prayer its place without making three requests a formula or a promise of removal.

This episode makes room for the request we are tired of repeating, for practical help alongside prayer, and for receiving someone whose news has not improved.
